Privacy and terms pages

The public /privacy and /terms pages are written in the admin, not in the code. A platform admin edits them at Settings → Privacy & GDPR (/settings/privacy) and Settings → Terms of service (/settings/terms). They are not custom pages under Pages, which is why that list can be empty while both pages exist.

Languages

The text you save is the English source. Dutch, German and other languages come from the Translation manager (/admin/translations/{locale}): every paragraph and title is one entry, keyed by its English text. An English entry you edit there applies to the English page too (card #875 — before, only the other languages used the edits). Change the English source in the editor and its translations need to be written again, because the key changed.

Extra sections

  • Up to ten sections, each a title and a text, shown after the part about how long data is kept.
  • Each section gets an anchor from its English title, the same in every language: Delete your data is /privacy#delete-your-data, also on /nl/privacy#delete-your-data. Use it for links such as the data-deletion URL of a Meta app.
  • A blank line in the text starts a new paragraph; a single line break stays a line break, so a list can be written one item per line.

Valid from

The Effective date field is shown under the title (Effective …, in Dutch Geldig vanaf …, in German Gültig ab …). Update it whenever the policy changes, and add the translated date in the Translation manager.

Terms of service

The terms editor (card #876) has an effective date, an introduction and up to 30 sections. Each section has a title, paragraphs (a blank line starts a new one) and bullet points (one per line; a leading - or • is dropped). A section without a title, or without any text, is left out; when nothing usable is saved, the page shows the built-in terms. Like the privacy policy, the text is the English source and every title, paragraph and bullet point is translated in the Translation manager, so /nl/terms and /de/terms follow once their entries exist.
